FRACTURE OF THE ZYGOMA OPEN REDUCTION.BY PROF. RIDA FRANKA.

Below are some of the many dental conditions with varying incidence.Dental caries occurs often due to bacterial attacks from plaque which are formed by foods that causes tooth decay and demineralization. Dental caries can be prevented but not recovered. Through proper oral care and regular dental procedures, tooth decay can be prevented. There is a condition called tooth sensitivity where sharp pains are caused by exposed dentin alone. This is frequent in the premolars and canine area. Surgery, topical treatments and certain tooth pastes (dentrifices) are usually given to clients suffering from this. These agents desensitize the pain making it bearable for client recovery.Mouth abscesses is an infection that surrounds the tissues in the tooth. These happen because of tissue destruction, tooth loss or widened infection from other parts of the body. Treatments are usually simple and used in other dental conditions.Involuntary grinding of teeth whether awake or asleep is a condition called Bruxism. This can cause severe dental damage. This usually occurs in children but is often outgrown. Treatments rely largely on treating psychosomatic factors, which is the main reason why clients grind their teeth.

Principles of Medical Ethics

Principles of Medical Ethics
Preamble
The medical profession has long subscribed to a body of ethical statements developed primarily for the benefit of the patient. As a member of this profession, a physician must recognize responsibility not only to patients, but also society, to other health professionals, and to self. The following Principles adopted by the American Medical Association are not laws, but standards to conduct which define the essentials of honorable behavior for the physician.
1. A physician shall be dedicated to providing competent medical service with compassion and respect for human dignity.
2. A physician shall deal honesty with patients and colleagues, and strive to expose those physicians deficient in character or competence, or who engage in fraud or deception.
3. A physician shall respect the law and also recognize a responsibility to seek changes in those requirements which are contrary to the best interests of the patient.
4. A physician shall respect the rights of patients of colleagues and of other health professionals, and shall safeguard patient confidences within the constrains of the law.
5. A physician shall continue to study, apply and advance scientific knowledge, make relevant information available to patients, colleagues, and the public, obtain consultation, and use talents of other health professionals when indicated.
6. A physician shall, in the provision of appropriate patient care, except in emergencies, be free to choose whom to serve, with whom to associate, and the environment in which to provide medical services.
7. A physician shall recognize a responsibility to participate in activities contributing to an improved community.

The Hippocratic Oath

I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant:

I will respect the hard-won scientific gains of those physicians in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow.

I will apply, for the benefit of the sick, all measures [that] are required, avoiding those twin traps of overtreatment and therapeutic nihilism.

I will remember that there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug.

I will not be ashamed to say "I know not", nor will I fail to call in my colleagues when the skills of another are needed for a patient's recovery.

I will respect the privacy of my patients, for their problems are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given to me to save a life, all thanks. But it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God.

I will remember that I do not treat a fever chart, a cancerous growth, but a sick human being, whose illness may affect the person's family and economic stability. My responsibility includes these related problems, if I am to care adequately for the sick.

I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure.

I will remember that I remain a member of society with special obligations to all my fellow human beings, those sound of mind and body as well as the infirm.

If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life and art, respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of healing those who seek my help.

You should care your teeth

Healthy teeth are nice smile

Teeth and Oral Care

Each tooth is covered by hard and mineralized enamel. Your teeth are supported by dentin, a mineralized connective tissue that is supported also by a dental pulp, a soft connecting tissue. This mineralized connective tissue will let you chew food because of its tough exterior. Cementum, periodontal ligament and alveolar bone, all composed of connective tissues, supports your teeth by attaching it your jaw which gives its flexibility and sturdiness, enough to endure mastication.

Your teeth start to develops on the embroyonic epithelial and neural crest, which is a consequent of mesenchymal cells in your primitive mouth and begin interacting with each other. One significant aspect in your tooth development is that these bio signals are constantly repeated prior to the key stages in the tooth development. These signals will trigger tooth germs, epithelial cell differentiation in tooth buds as well as differentiation of these ameloblasts and odontoblasts in the late stages.

Diet also takes a vital role in your oral health. Furthermore, research showed that high carbohydrate diets are primarily the main culprit in causing tooth decay or caries. Since dietary habits are cultural in nature, it is hard to modify it to inhibit tooth decay.

Regular brushing of teeth, correct brushing procedures, high fluoride content toothpaste and limited rinsing can actually help fight off dental caries. Furthermore, regular oral care also needs regular check up with a dental hygienist to advice patients of proper dental procedures.

Dental Procedures

The primary goal of these dental procedures is to refurbish and preserve your teeth. There are different methods used on these procedures.

Topical fluoride applications are given to those who are at risk for dental caries or those teeth with smooth decayed surface. These are relatively safe, highly effective and conventional treatment wherein toxicity is controllable.

For those are into sports, mouth guards are often used to avoid their mouth, tooth and dental tissues from injury. Further studies showed that these mouth guards offer sturdy protection on the oral compartment.

Another dental procedure is through the use of Amalgram fillings. This material is used to restore your posterior teeth due to its flexible recuperative material. There are diverse amalgram filling options that will have varying results. Materials used are resin based composites, porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns, gold alloy restorations and other ceramic restorations.

Another restorative material called Resin bonded porcelain veneer enhances your teeth’s appearance. Porcelain laminate veneers, on the other hand, renews the anterior teeth

To cover up those carries with pits and fissues, oral hygienist uses dental sealants. However, this kind of procedure is very expensive so it is only recommended to those who are high risk for dental caries.

For aesthetic purposes, teeth bleaching is done. This procedure will enhance your teeth’s color with whitening toothpastes, scaling and polishing, enamel microbrasion and veneer and crown placement.

There are certain dental procedures that require surgery. Apicoectomy is done to extract the affected root tip along with the tissues that surrounds it.
